basic local phone line costing $10.69 a month
In what state?! My aging mother who lives on Social Security can barely afford that so called basic local phone line. By the time you add all the taxes, FCC, etc., that total comes to about $25 a month. Bellsouth charges $6 a month FOR NOT having a long distance carrier 'supposedly' for in-coming calls. She may get one or two in-coming long distance calls a month. They don't give a CHOICE of no in-coming calls. Looks like they could give those over 80 a better deal. A phone could be the only thing that could save their lives.
