I wouldnt bank on that.
Android is on a closed platform released fairly recently...

I've been programming for Symbian in OPL and C# since Motorola's A1000 (Symbian V6 and UIQ V2) and then on the Nokia smartphones in Python since the Nokia 6600. I also used to program for it when it was called Epoch on the Psion Organisers in OPL.

While OPL is looking a bit dead in the water against Python, there are probably thousands of apps in the field being used right now.

I'm now using a N958gb and wouldnt buy an iPhone if you paid me, I'd have to rewrite my GPS locator, phone book, media player and camera apps - I've had these for a couple of years now because they are easier to use than the built in ones (for me!).

Plus most of the little gadgets I use on my computers also run native on the phone with little or no modification. Be they an MS box or Linux box...

Perceived head start or not, thats a big spicy meatball Nokia are rolling, and its an old and popular recipe...
