Maybe it is one option, maybe not
in urban areas you are right, but away from cities, there are few options for connection. If you are surfing away, there may be three to seven people not able to use their phone because it is a party line. in many areas of the country that may be the only viable internet access method. Some of the subdivisions I have been looking to buy land for a retirement home don't even have phone service. You need to use a cell.
