My sister in florida had roadrunner when she signed up for fios.

verizon installed directv recivers because the optical cable service was not installed yet.
she already had directv service and cancled it for fios! go figure..

I personally had alot of equipment lost-modems,surge protectors,computers, cordless telephones and answering machines due to lighting striking the tele poles in the area. I had proper lighting protection at all times and still lost equipment.
Verizon (aka GTE then) said their equipment was not at fault.
After talking to a GTE linemanin alley behind my house, he informed me where i was located in the service line (the end of it)
lighting was using the overhead line to my house and the neighbors to ground itself.
I live smack in the middle of the city. tele line in alley, power company lines in the street in front of the houses.

Always telephone related equipment lost -not TV's, stero equip, directv box, VCR ever took a hit..? wtf...

After being lied to by GTE, i made the switch to roadrunner. after 8+ years still a happy Roadrunner customer. no contracts, no bs, no outages, customer service great(no hours of waiting for GTE customer service) Verizon take your FIOS and shove it where the sun never shines!!! : )
