It seems to me that NYC wants to join in with the Patriot Act where no supoenas are needed. At least this time they went to the courts to try to get the info. I agree with the previous posters about the freedom from having your personal life invaded. The business of the federal government get free reign to look at telephone info without supoenas is now spilling over into the local governments.
