Who Cares?
Almost ALL countries have control over the communications standards they use, and there are world-wide standards as well. Here, the FCC will make the decision in order to avoid making broad bands of spectrum useless by adopting an unpopular or inefficient standard. Consumers, for example, had no say in the NTSC, broadcast AM or FM standards or even the frequency of their AC power. Giant projects like these MUST be coordinated. What if every manufacturer had a different speed for vinyl records?
