Now you know why I am such a cynic.
Except for one thing. It was monitored in real time and they couldn't do anything about the information leaking out. That is why these regimes hate the internet or anyone with a camcorder. Companies like AT&T cynically exploit their customers to the government to make a buck knowing full well they cannot contain the information for the government. All of this illegal going ons is nothing but brownie points for future lucrative contracts with the government. Now the government is returning the favor to protect their vendors by giving them immunity. Not because they care about them. They will need vendors in the future to do more dirty work.
