- Great Comment - the people paid for the Internet ; not Comcast
-
In the USA, but also in other countries, taxes were collected that eventually were used to develop the Internet. No business organization to my knowledge was ever taxed or contributed to the infrastructure we call the Web. Businesses that have found the web to be a money maker for them need to remember this. Businesses that use the Internet for email and other file transfer mechanisms have no legitimate ownership interests. This is an owner driven mechanism and the owners are You an I. We allow businesses to use the commons but expect them to do so responsibly and that does not involve denial of service in any form. Do we need to reclaim the commons? Do we do that by excluding Comcast from trespassing on our property? Do we do that by boycott. Do we do that by legislation? Or will reason rule? I hope for the latter.
