Yes, but it's a Toy
It's like the Aero interface, not needed by fun to play with. Well, Compiz is hundreds times more configurable than the other. I turn it off most of the time, but do enjoy playing with it, or especially, demoing it to folks. I run it on a Dell D620 laptop no less (Aero won't run on this) and I don't experience any slowdowns. The latest release is a lot more stable, I haven't had it exit (reverting to KDE) in a while.
