Slow down
Are you paying $70-$80 a month for simple landline service? Are you paying $160 a month for electricity? I bet you are not.

I would be all for this, if it would bring broadband internet out here, since I could dump my horribly expensive landline, and get reasonably-priced phone over IP to boot... But it won't.

All that will happen, is that the phone bill will go way up.

If you are paying these prices for your services, and have no complaints... then you are living in a different economic bracket. Rural homes and rural prices go with rural wages... Average wage out here is about 9.50 an hour, if you can even find a job at all.

You should live this experience before you make judgments on it.
