RE: eBay: What to do with Skype?
As soon as eBay makes Skype work with traditional "SIP" voice over IP hardware. They can destroy Vonage and any other "little" VOIP provider hands down. The average price for unlimited incoming and outgoing calling through SIP based voip is $24.99/mo before taxes. Skype currently charges $29.95/year for unlimited outgoing calls. Break that down by the month and without doing the math I'm estimating $2.50/mo is the adjusted monthly rate when paying annually which in affect is $5.00 more then one month of service from the other guys... There is also a common activation fee when many voip providers and hardware "requirements" all these things can work to Skypes advantage if they would finally let their network talk SIP. I would sign up this second if I could take my Linksys PAP2 (one of the most popular SIP Hardware to Analog Telephone Adapters in the world) You actually get two lines of service with a Pap2 so you could decide to make outgoing calls strictly with Skype and sign up with any one of a dozen free incoming call providers. The only thing about the incoming side is that the person calling may have to dial a long distance number, or a local access number that will then ask for a users SIP number (basically like a 6 to 10 digit extention)

I'd love to see this but what's the issue?
Can you say bye bye Vonage? Maybe they need to just aquire Vonage to merge the two technologies and take their 220 million users to a platform that is universal throughout the world. SIP hardware devices are available from Many large Networking companies such as D-Link and Linksys/Cisco as well as many independent companies such as Innomedia and Telco Systems.

That is my 2 cents and I welcome any response back regarding my opinion. -Scott
