Let everyone say "no" for themselves....
I'd bet that there's a certain adventurer lost out West right now who'd be very happy to be tracked down by means of this chip or something similar.

In fact, here in the Rockies, rental satphones are an increasingly popular accessory for hikers who don't mind being able to scream for help or to be tracked down by means of a built-in GPS chip (I love the GPS feature in my Boost cell phone, $20 because my local Target store was holding a moving sale).

It's a little bit of a conversational leap to go from talking about a chip you can carry with you to one that's implanted (like the RFID chip you can have implanted subcutaneously in your pet).

However, as a parent, I can think of a few occasions when having had my teenage kids chipped would have been a very useful thing - especially when one's in-laws (for example) act as enablers for rebellious teens, providing them with transportation, alcohol and money.
