unlicensed Wi-Fi signals; no No NO
Continuing with the message. In the USA every resident has a RIGHT to FREE UNIVERSAL WIRELESS BROADBAND ACCESS to Web 2.0. The air waives that will be used are the < 1Ghz band that is currently under utilized for wireless broadband TV. Those TV channels and the white space between are proven best for emergency use as they penetrate walls and have always been for an emergency purpose, as well as the purpose of educating consumers and voters so that better choices can be made .

The US government taxed residents to support those channels and the infrastructure - the towers etc - have been paid for. For interactivity, the US government allowed AT&T a "last mile connectivity" legal monopoly until recently so that almost every home and business could call for help and to ask questions on shows like Ask the Governor and also to vote on shows like American Idol. But today we can use the same < Ghz bandwidth to do also what AT&T provided. The WiMax standard allows this.

When our nation was first forming, private companies not unlike Earthlink built roads and investors expected to recoop costs by tolls. Only residents bypassed the toll booths. Management took investor money and enriched themselves knowing this and every last company went bankrupt. We make this same mistake with companies like EarthLink. The sooner the better for their ruin.

The solution - The US government continues administration and licensing of < 1 Ghz. It can not be sold. It is the Information Super Highway and it must remain free to all.
