Don't believe Sprint coverage maps

I'd been with Nextel for many years before I finally got fed up with their lowsy coverage and unreliable Motorola phones and switched over to Sprint based on their claimed broad coverage. According to their published map, they should have excellent coverage in the area I care about. WRONG! My own tests show virtually NO coverage where I need it. On top of that they have the nerve to charge me $36 setup fee! This after all the years I fed their new underling, Nextel.

In two months I used a mere 100 or so minutes and my first bill was more than $170. Ridiculous!

I'd like to hear comments from users of other services who often have to communicate from somewhat remote regions. Who do you recommend?
