You are seeing the future...
...for more than just the cellular industry. My prediction is that vendors of all types of services, from cellular to retail will be using CRM systems to weed out what they judge to be unprofitable customers. It's happening in the cellular field first, because they've been collecting customer data long enough to develop the criteria for determining who is a waste of their time.

It's my understanding that some big box electronics retailers are already doing this as well.
