What a deal for AT&T!
I am responsible for my companies small cell phone network, only 30 phones but we have to be able to connect from way out in the boonies.

Before anybody thinks I am a verizon schill, or AT&T read on.

We had AT&T, then were switched to Cingular, and the service had the most dropped calls of any service here.

Midtown during rush hour most days you can't even get a signal, nevermind from out in the fringes.

So I asked the company I heard from all my country customers was the best for around here and they all said Alltel?????

So I got their enterprise rep to lend us three phones to test. Guess what? Despite smaller coverage maps, we even get coverage in areas not on the map!

Made the switch, and for the past year everybody is happy.

We are done with Cingular/AT&T or anybody else.

But we had so many dropped calls and dead areas with the previous that the commercials for fewest dropped calls now just makes us laugh.

But here is the sweet deal part for At&T.

Once they get the folks who don't know what they've got now to switch, JUST TO BE ABLE TO BUY AN iPHONE, and those same folks get sucked into a two year contract, I'll bet they will never admit that they got suckered and the service is abysmal.

Because with the exclusive contract, if they want to go back to decent service with another provider, they are stuck with a $500.00 iPhone that cannot work on another service.

But it is an Apple i product and there are enough of them to get the ball rolling.

I can envision them now showing off their iPhones, the call dropping, but unable to admit that the service is terrible, will "fake" the rest of the conversation. With a happy beatific smile, and a smug attitude.

Can't admit we got took can we?

I agree with Verizon's CEO completely. All they have to do is connect and not drop calls as much as AT&T. Too bad so many will be sucked into the worst provider out there and be stuck not only with them but a useless phone if not dropping calls or getting the "all circuits are busy" messages forces them to change due to business or personal requirements.

See, you can't use all those features, nor connect to the net, with no signal a much larger part of the time or if it drops the signal.

But then again we'll see won't we. Soon.

Go lemmings! Go!
