To bad ClearWire doesn't use WiMax to its full potential
From the story: "WiMax can deliver signals more than a mile in some suburban areas, with peak data rates of about 20 megabits per second. Average user data rates fall between 2Mbps and 8Mbps."

But, that's WiMax - not what ClearWire actually provides. From clearwire.com, their home premium and business packages are both advertised as up to 1.5Mbps downlink speed and up to 256Kbps uplink speed - that's a step up from their home value package that has 768Kbps downlink speed, but still nowhere near the potential of WiMax.

Compared to other broadband options, this isn't very impressive. The price is good, it's just a shame that they strangled their service speed offerings.
