Reason for music phone...
The reason for a music phone (MP3 phone?) in NOT to download music. I am sure that the phone company would like that, but at $3.00/song no way. For me, the reason for a music phone was device integration. An MP3 player and a phone are both "audio" devices (vs say a camera, which does not really belong on a phone). So I already have storage, an amplifier, headphones etc., so for an extra amplifier (for stereo) and a codec I have an integrated music player and this is how it benefits me: I am listening to music, I get a call, the music pauses, I take the call (either automatically or by pushing a button on the headphones) and when I am done the music resumes from where it stopped. All from one device - THAT is the reason for an MP3 cell phone. For the record, I listen to a Chocolate flip (LG V8600) with a 1GB uSD card and ALL of my songs are ripped MP3s and ALL of my ringtones are edited versions of those MP3s. I did not download 1 song or ringtone from Verizon.
