Verizon Wireless passed on iPhone two years ago

The Real Numbers: This was the first time Cingular had gained more customers than Verizon Wireless since they tied a few quarters ago with both at 1.7 new subscriptions each service. However Cingulars 2.4 million ads can be misinterpreted, Cingular gained 1.6 million postpaid, the other .8 million were pre-paid. Verizon wireless gained 2.1 million post paid while only gaining .2 pre paid. Verizon Wireless has more Post Paid customers than any other company.
