Perhaps Cingular should be phasing out AT&T name
Cingular definitely has the better "hip" rating at this point. Unless the company is going for the 40+ demographic, this is probably a mistake, or at the very least, a great waste of built-up equity in the Cingular brand.

I would be willing to bet that if you showed the Cingular and AT&T logos to those age 12-18, 80% more would recognize the Cingular orange splat guy over AT&T's recently made-over striped world logo.

This is a decision no doubt made by a bunch of 60-somethings that lost touch with popular culture 20 years ago.
