Ok, lets take a step back and be rational for a sec
The facts are quite clear. Cisco owns the trademark. They owned it before Apple ever had an iPod, iLife, etc. They arguably could have legitimately gone after Apple for using the iPod name etc, but that doesn't appear to have been their goal or else they would have. I think this is just a matter of Apple knowing they didn't have the right to use the name, but deciding to use anyway and damn the consequences. Don't get me wrong, I love Apple's products and their culture of innovation, but they are clearly chose the wrong approach here. Cisco has clearly stated that they wanted to work with Apple to come to an agreement that would allow them to use the name, but Apple basically said "Screw you! Sue me!" So guess what, Cisco did.

I think they could have been able to made some beautiful music together, pun intended.
