Hey: Its the Read Write Web
What's wrong with my post? It certainly isn't meant to be spam. Contact me at mighetto@eskimo.com. The point of the post is that WiFi has always been insecure and an inappropriate technology for web access. If we in the IT profession had spoken earlier about how inappropriate WiFi technology is for Intertnet (wait we did that). OK Something is wrong. How did WiFi end up at Coffee Shops? Who benefited? Why WiFi in the first place. Can it be made secure.

Here is the most important point. The Greatest Public Commons is not the Internet - though that is a great one. It is rather unbounded media - the airwaves. From the start of radio it has been recognized that private competing companies do not serve the public well unless there is government regulation of the airwaives. The WiFi spectrum is under regulated. It is being replaced by regulated spectrum which is more appropriate for disaster recovery. When WiFi is rushed to a disaster area it does harm. Do you really disagree?
