You can still upgrade
Should you find your phone not functioning properly (sort of like mine) and that they discontinued it so you can no longer get a battery for it there are other options. Most of the major carriers make phones like your current one that do nothing more than basic voice calls.

If your a verizon customer then you get the free upgrade every 2 years. Not sure about the other plans.
