Conference Podcasts
I picked up a Nokia 6102i yesterday and got a pitch involving FM radio which the phone supports when connected to a special head phone or other antenna system. The sales person couldn't really make a good pitch but best I could tell the head phone was bluetooth? wireless.

To me the notion made no sense except that I know that you use FM radio to attach an Ipod to a car or boat that has only a CD player. So I figgured the FM portion of the phone was really for that kind of thing.

I am using Ipod for podcasts which are becoming available for most conferences, well actually those younger than me set it up. But I see value in it.

That kind of thing and talk radio often isn't broadcast on FM but you can download it to your Ipod or computer and listen.

The real interesting thing about the Nokia 6102i is the potential of going the otherway. The phone has an integrated VGA camera. So say I want help from my sailing coach on sail trim but he is away from his phone. Capture of a video clip with video recorder then starts making sense. Cingular isn't just jumping on mobile music. It is jumping on mobile media. In the near future I will be able to watch as well as listen to conference procedings that have been podcast and create those. A small step with music is a big step for every aspect of what we will be doing with mobile computing devices.
