As long as you are STATIONARY - you can use WiFi. Don't walk TOO far away though. Think of WiFi telephone as a regular telephone with a 100 foot cord . . .
As I have said a hundred times, WiFi is the WRONG technology for ubiquitous wireless. This is the realm of WiMAX (which is approaching its 1st "birthday"). It is embarrassments-in-the-making like this, that will propel the WiMAX Steamroller.
