Re: Disagree, different markets.
I agree with the going into the 'home integrated network' as a whole market. But contractors already know about Cisco. High-end consumers assuming they have some investments, read some financial papers know of Cisco's existence. The goal for them to change the logo, and company concept was to build awareness, according to Sue, "When we tested audiences, we found that our familiarity is lower than our technology peers."

If you are a high end consumer you will seek the best, thats why brands like Crestron, Celestial, Faroudja, Magnepan, Martin-Logan, Velodyne, Runco, dont need to advertise on a grand scale (granted their sales output is significantly less) - their products are known to high end consumers as well as contractors (most high end demographics will not be installing network piping into the cravaces of their homes themselves - they will pay someone to do it.) What Cisco hopes is that this consumer will choose this brand over another when it comes time to tell the contractor which one they would prefer - and at that point the contractor either feels comfortable with Cisco networking products or not.

What Cisco needs is a nice fancy musical note - like that of Intel. Or if they want the masses, pay some Rap singer to rap "Got my Cizzzco VoIP network in my crib, my shiny bentley, and some ho's" guarantee they will get all the mass of demographics they seek.

And perhaps, if they want a more holistic approach, make the Cisco name more pronounced on Linksys products, which is already advertised like every sunday at every electronic big box retailer.
