Not true
The goverment broke up the telephone monopoly and now we have affordable phone service. Before that there was no unlimited long distance. Before that we paid for long distance AND local calls every one of them.

I'll admit they get it wrong a lot more than they get it right, but they do get it right once in awhile.

And make no mistake, they didn't start this out of any sense of propriety. This came about because of the great public outcry. IE they saw votes in it. (Just so the right wing idiots like spoony can't call me a democrat)

Want to understand this? Look at the long list of prominent backers like Tim Berners lee. Now looks at the naysayers. Only the ones who stand to make loads of cash and morons too stupid to think for themselves and blindly parrot what their conservative elected officials tell them.
