If only there were a name for such a system.....maybe.....capitalism? Yeah, that's it, and maybe it will be the catalyst for some countries to become great nations, like maybe.....America!

Capitalism is what made the mess that TV is now. The Internet is SUPPOSED to be on open forum for the exchange of information and ideas, not a money tree. If the broadband providers want to make money from it, fine, so be it. But NOT at the expense of everyone else. The Internet is worldwide, not just us in America.

Or would you prefer a more socialist system with corruption that would make our systems problems look darned tame in comparison?

there isn't one. unless your a broadband provider that wants to squeeze more money out of the Internet.

The problem that I see is not the internet or isps, but maybe the cable companies with their "exclusive territories".

The only inteligent part of your post. It makes my argument perfectly. There IS no problem now. no need to allow greedy corporations the ability to charge to play favorites. As for our cable companies and their legal monopolies, well, thats what happens when we don't pay attention to our politicians and the corporations that buy them.... err make "campaign" contributions.
