Good Point Visit Nokia See Internet Access Phones
WiFi for Intenet is obsolete because of phones used to display video clips. To do this the same multi-core multi-processor chips used in your new MacBook Pro are used in the phone. (Smart computer purchase BTW).

I use the term fincomputer rather than smartphone because the Finish have created most of them. 5 million already deployed. All Linux to my knowledge.

The future has you and fellows like you creating video content, mixing sound in with it, loading it to the web and making that available to Cingular customers who have Internet accessing finphones.

Note my cleaver zing about Virizon; These guys are still trying to implement the Enron dark fiber valhalan failure with Microsoft. Such a house of cards. Office Live via Verison - argh.

If you have been following Zdnet you are well aware of phone devices that through a web service reformat web pages to 40 column displays. You can also get bricks with full computer size display and smallish keyboards.

Since you brought this up, where are the finphones that connect direct to your computer? With such a phone a full display might be provided. This is such a good idea, someone must have such a gizmo ready. The notion is like the HP Palmtops that used Infrared to transfer data to and from the desktop computer. Perhaps WiFi could be used there. But not for Internet Access.

Internet Access in the future will work like the old dial up modems. This allows the phone companies to manage and charge appropriately.

In any case, I have been involved in the purchase of close to 200 PCs during the last 6 months and all of those were configured without WiFi - for security reasons, by Del who makes them to spec these days.

When you think more about it you will see that WiFi for Internet Access has always been a farce - a fraud really - given cell towers that can be connected to the fiber. Wifi to your printer or monitor or mouse is not so much of a fraud but the fact is that the technology is the same as garage door openers. There is nothing new about it and it is hampering Cell and Satellite Internet connuctivity which has real humanitarian implications world wide. When the next Katrina Hits you want access.
