- Wi Fi is PlaceHolder Techology - Its already Obsolete
-
In Washington State the WiFi promoters are scrambling because it is well recognized that cell technology will replace it. I was not surprized to see rest stops in the state made WiFi capable at no charge to the citizens because this dumping of obsolete techology is to be expected when Clearwire and everyone else is rolling out computer phones that provide Internet access using the cell towers and satellites and traditional radio rather than obsolete garage door technology.
I am also not surprized to see the mayor of Seattle rushing through a high speed Internet terestrial system proposal, that likely will be tapped into via home and business WiFi, in spite of Clearwire's protestations, so that his cronies can defraud the citizens. The future of computing is mobile. Wifi just doesn't cut it. Every boat owner knows this. Move the boat and no WiFi, all that weather reporting is lost. This isn't true with cell and satellite technology or even traditionl old radio.
Having said that I brought my neighbor a ham sandwich (the food of preferance for Microsoft share holders) to thank him for the Linksys WiFi my wife and I enjoy at no charge. Well we did pay for the Internet through taxes so there of course were charges. My point is that WiFi is placeholder technology, only. We who promote IT should not be building on that foundation.
I do not want to see anything slow down the pace of technology and WiFi isn't really helping anyone except those owning stock in a monopoly and those with products they need to dump in America because the rest of the world has governments that protect consumers from technology dumping.
