Par for the Course
It sounds like the companies are simply pricing the market. The term "stick it to the consumer" -- that is what business does by default, but it is always a give-and-take process. Companines providing DSL compete against Cable companies and other broadband services. DSL prices have dropped and dropped. Now they are not dropping when the regulatory fee is cancelled and we get belly-aching from consumer groups. What do they want -- fairness? Forget it. Companies are doing what they always do -- price the market as high as they can to get the maximum profit. Period. What is so hard to understand? So long as Cable is a strong contender, prices will drop over time. So stop all the anti-capitalist talk. Sure the system is all greed, but it works out overall better than any system out there -- and the worrld has tried them all. This is the best -- just make sure competition remains vibrant. And chill a little....
