Here's a quick test for you
Take a look at the average web page you browse and see just how many different domains are being referenced. If you're using Firefox with the adblock extension it can be quite enlightening. A typical ZDNet page references 5 or more different domains. Granted, once each of those domains is looked up your PC does cache them. But for the average user who bounces from one web site to the next, add a 2+ second delay to each of those lookups the first time they're referenced...
