cingular customer service
The "freebee" cingular gave me almost two years ago quit, a cheap Nokia that would no longer accept recharging. My options, the woman who had no patience in dealing with customers, were to pay her $175 plus tax and break my contract with Cingular, pay her $130 plus tax and get a telephone like the one that broke, or sign up for another two years and pay about half for another telephone that broke. It was not a gentle discussion, and her manager said take it or leave it. I told them I thought I was getting treated poorly, and was ushered out of the corporate store, with a racial slur hurled as I left. For the record, I'm white.

So, off the competitors, who couldn't help and then to a retail Cingular kiosk in one of my city's shopping malls.

"I've heard that a lot about the corporate store," the fellow said, actually identifying the clerk and manager.

So, for not even half what the corporate store was asking, I have a superior instument, the smart card installed and working and a freebee auto charger thrown in.

In a few months, though, I'll be shopping. I have a neighbor who had a similar experience, and now pays the AT&T surcharge.

Cingular's employees treat customers poorly, the company's policies are exploitative and there's likely no improvement in sight.
