A solution to the $175 cancellation fee - I just did this!
Go to Cingular and tell them you want to switch over from AT&T. They then treat you like a new customer and you have 30 days to cancel your service and return your phone with no $175.00 penalty! I checked it out and verified it with customer support as well as the store that made the physical switch for me. They can't revert you back to your AT&T contract, so as long as you cancel within the 30 days you are free to go. Verizon here I come!
