M$? Taken to a whole NEW level by
Enron. That cutthroat Ken Lay took the chicken's way out. Wouldn't put it past him if he went out and got some drug that induced that heart attack of his. Suicide by deceit...how appropriate THAT would be.

ATT Wireless was seldom a GOOD service during the last years of its independant existence let alone a great one as some of these plaintiffs appear to be claiming, at least in the region where I lived (Seattle). The original Cellular One--the McCaw entity--was who I started with in the late '80s, and they were FAR better than ATTW was ever for me, even though many Cell One execs ended up running ATTW. When ATT came around and bought Cell One to fold the bulk of that network into ATTW...that's when the slippery slope of downward quality REALLY began. Things only got worse when ATT shot off ATTW as a separate company; I was often told by cell vendors at the time that ATT/ATTW simply wasn't investing capital in maintaining their network, let alone improving it. Given the shell of a company ATT was at its OWN end and the amount of red Ma Bell was bleeding, and how ATTW's books were just as bloody, it would seem that those vendor statements were VERY true.

As soon as we were given the freedom to port our cell numbers to another carrier...I couldn't get away from ATTW fast enough. As to how good (or bad) Cingular is...well, I knew they had their eye on ATTW at the time, so I wasn't going to THEM, that's for sure. IMO, ATTW at its end was already a cesspool when it came to quality. It quite honestly is hard for me to imagine how it could be any worse than it already was.
