Sounds like Clearwire is ready for war.
"WiMax is coming, whether you want it, like it or don't like it," Motorola CEO Ed Zander said in an interview in May.
Bold words for tech that is unproven and yet to find footing anywhere, though Intel's and Motorola's contributions could be enough for a boot.

If those speeds hold up under real-world conditions (256Kbps max upload speed? You can do better.) and have that better coverage, WiFi could be looking at stiff competition...

...assuming the telcos don't try to litigate it into oblivion, or abuse it for their own net domination plans.
