OS prices dropping?
I agree with you that Linus did not have the intent of "forcing prices down". It is a natural side affect of the GPL though.

However, just were do you see any indication of the cost of OS dropping?

If you look at Microsoft Windows it has made a steady increase in price each new version. It is costing Microsoft more money to produce each new version of the Windows OS. I am positive that "savings" is getting passed to the consumer.

However, if you were not referring to Windows OS please tell us which OS is getting cheaper to design?
