Who is "they"?

--maybe they should code a better kernel that doesn't panic.--

Who is "they"? With linux kernels you only have 2 choices:

1. build it yourself
2. use a precompiled one

A lot of people use precompiled kernels. There are thousands of variations on precompiled kernels and all distros come with at least one precompiled kernel. Precompiled kernels are usually safer but can lack the performance that can be gained by building it yourself, willing you know what you are doing to start with. It is interesting to note that Windows uses a precompiled kernel which is never optimized for the hardware it runs on.

So who is responsible for kernel panics Loverock? Depends on the above. I've created kernel panics when messing around with the kernel but I can't think of a single time I have ever seen one of the major distros precompiled kernels panic. It's not that they can't, but it's probably really rare. Heck, it's been so long since I seen a kernel panic I actually forgot about them.
