An idea
It wouldn't be that difficult (and might be a good security idea) to send voice conversations over multiple 'lines'/phone numbers similar to Digital Spread Spectrum but with phone numbers rather than frequentcies. It wouldn't be that hard since VoIP is an open technology.

And that would foil 'standard' ways of wiretapping. And it would be quick and easy to spread.

Yeah, wiretapping now days is going to be impossible unless they sit right outside your door literally tapping your wire(less).
