Yet when you don't turn off your devices

somehow the pilots know someone has something on. I was on a plane maybe 5 years ago in which the guy sitting in front of me kept his computer on, although he was discrete about it. But somehow the pilots knew someone had soething on and made the flight attendants go around and find the perpetrator. The man absolutely refused to turn off his computer (he had it hooked up to his cell phone and was downloading something big), which wound up delaying the landing for about 20 minutes.

Now I don't know if it really interfered with the landing instuments or whether they had some kind of cell phone detector and did this for show, but what I do know is that security had to come, not to arrest him, but to protect this guy against all the other angry passengers.
