RE: 'Dot-mobi' domain for mobile devices hits the Web
Well three years on from the launch it looks a bit different. The sponsoring companies largely do not use the .mobi domain, MTLD changed their name to Dotmobi and in 2007-2008 reported such a large loss that their auditors told them they should consider and Exceptional General Meeting.

Most significantly, the company abandoned the trustmark, or standard, that guaranteed that users would find mobile content on the .mobi domain. The company was launched with the sole purpose of providing the .mobi domain and trustmark, but later changed their remit to include other activities. Will users find mobile content on .mobi domains and will people continue to put sites up on these domains?

The number of .mobi domains registered has fallen by 25% in the last year.

You will find a good article on this at GomoNews.com called Trouble in Dotmobi Paradise http://www.gomonews.com/trouble-in-dotmobi-paradise/ where they say more coverage is coming.
