I bet early TV had its problems, too.
Getting those television waves into homes had to be difficult, especially for those who can't afford TVs in their homes at the time.

Not everyone can afford WiFi, or broadband access, or even computers unless they're lucky enough to find a half way decent one at a flea market or a used-PC store for under $100US.

Give it a little time. Citywide (and maybe statewide) WiFi will become a reality...
... unless WiMAX starts catching on and takes over.
