I don't think any of these companies, Comcast and the company that interviewed customers, really know what customers want or need. It's all about dollars for them!
It wouldn't surprise me that a majority were AOL customers... that's like going from a mopad to a vette on the Interstate. The fact is... the way cable works is different from DSL. Cable companies control what "group" you are in and DSL is your private line. With cable, if Joe "Bandwidth Hog" Blow is in your group and sucking bandwidth, it eats up the groups bandwidth and you might as well be back on dialup. I have cable but can't get DSL... after work hours everyday, when everyone is at home, my so-called fast Internet connection turns to equivalent of a 300 baud modem connection because there are too many in the group sucking bandwidth and all I am doing is trying to load a webpage. Most people aren't aware of this and would only learn it if they are what I call a power user. Typical moms/pops on the Internet just sending emails or chit chatting on IM wouldn't notice too much... Stay away from cable unless DSL isn't available from you... [my 2 cents] - Posted by: DarbyOhara Posted on: 05/01/06 You are currently: a Guest | Members login | Terms of Use
