And so it begins
the beginning of the end for telcos. Verizon is just trying to cash in on the VoIP revolution - they lose customers right and left to VoIP, and so they "get them" by raising the VoIP "enabler" price - DSL. This has short term benefits, but in the long term it is not sustainable. Step 1. People stop using traditional POTS and move to VoIP (Verizon raises prices to cash in). Step 2. People shop around for (cheap) internet service - (raising the price doesn't help here). When WiMAX FINALLY shows up (starting next year), and offers wireless access to internet for cheap - those people that were leaving POTS will now leave Verizon. And IF the IEEE passes the WiMAX mobile standard, you will be able to do your wireless phone service through the same WiMAX provider - robbing Verizon of their cell phone business. Can you see the writing on the wall YET?
