"nothing to look at"?
So broadband exists only to allow people to watch television on their monitors and the internet's growth has been prevented by the absence of fast video feeds?

The Googles, eBays and Amazons of the world are providing the value in subscribing to a telco ISP in the first place. Who would sign up for $50 a month if there was nothing to look at?

Okay. Let's simplify. The telcos will be the only ones to use the fast new pipes. Then you can be certain to get fair value for your $50.

And of course the telcos will pay the content companies whose programming they carry. They'll also follow all the DRM rules the content companies want to create. Why not?
Reselling content is a way to make a profit.

The issue doesn't involve whether fast pipes will be used only for faster video downloads. The telcos run their own businesses. The problem is only who pays for this special service.

If you want to pay for Google's profits on use of those special pipes, fine. Me, I think Google (and the people who volunteer to buy video from them) should pay from the company's increased profits.

First time I remember reading a post of yours advocating that a large corporation receive the maximum possible profits.
