But the telcos and cable companies between them own a good share of alternate technologies.
The only real danger is government WiMax, because government doesn't have to make a profit. And a government agency can't be bought.
So expect the telcos to offer a lot of wireless service that supplements without replacing the last mile wires that are the key to communications.
And exopect a lot of campaigns asking why government should go into business to put a lot of people out of work at existing companies.
