...the U.S. ever allow one bell to buy another. There was a specific reason for splitting up the bells. It was a giant, unstoppable Monopoly.
This is why now people can get phone service with unlimited long distance form something around $40/month. If the original AT&T still existed, we would probably have to pay over $110 (if that little). Sprint, MCI, and other companies would be small specks on the phone landscape.
I cannot figure out how the government hasn't squashed this deal from the beginning.
