I think there are other problems...
I have no issue helping out the farmers, ranchers, and other rural people. The problem that I have is when my local phone service from my telco says 16.95 and I end up paying 23 + dollars because of all the fees and taxes and surcharges. It also didn't help when the Federal government forced the rbocs to subsidize there competition with artifically low wholesale?? rates. Now the problem is with cable offering phone service and not being regulated like the rbocs. If the rbocs are going to die, let them do it on there own - not with the help of the government(federal state and local)...
