Sorry but you are way off base.
As far as school taxes, every state I know of bases taxes on the value of the home, even if it's a farm house. Usually expressed as "so much per thousand dollars of evaluation". What you do tend to see is that the same home will be worth a good deal more in the city than in the country. (Supply and demand.)

Second, you are woefully misinformed on grain and cattle prices and how they are set. The price of a bushel of corn has steadily declined in the last thirty years (you may may not see it because the middleman has to get paid.) while the cost of production has risen.

This is a direct effect of global competition. Juan Valdez will work in Brazil for $.50 an hour and the country HEAVILY subsidizes farmers to get into the world market.

As a side note: A couple of years ago the meat industry decided to "teach farmers a lesson" and they were paying $.05 (yes five cents) a pound for hogs while charging you and me $2.50 a lb. for bacon. I know a number of farmers that shot their hogs because they could not afford to feed them.

I agree the government has no reason to get involved though. Technology has an answer waiting and all it needs is to be implemented.
