Westerners just don't get it
China will pay lip service to western ideas of
intellectual property protection. Put simply, why
bother to develop when stealing is so easy? Of
course this is going to make China's home grown
IP efforts in vain as well. So Chinese music
performers will have to make their money from concerts, not CD sales.

Is this going to change? Only when China's home-grown IP owners outgrow the domestic market and find they have to export to the West. The irony is that other, less-developed nations will then steal CHina's IP. So Africa may well be the next haven for pirates then.

Turnabout is fair play.
